Ski Accommodation in Austria

RAURIS

Gasthof Alpenrose

A friendly, family run guesthouse with comfortable basic facilities.
Rooms were quite spacious (by ski standards) with plenty of hot water in the en suite facilities. TV’s in every room which was great if you spoke German. (which most of the guests did!)
Food was wholesome, tasty and varied. Some guests complained that there were no tea making facilities  during the day, but as this was a budget hotel and I think great value for money - I think they were expecting too much!.
The hotel had a bar, as part of the restaurant, which stayed open until late, but this wasn’t particularly lively, so we tended to drink at Shakes Beers Bar (200 metres away) which was !

I would certainly stay here again, and would recommend it to anybody considering doing so, as it was good value for money and the staff were so friendly, they  just couldn’t do enough for the guests.
My only criticism was that I think it was situated in the wrong place. Rauris itself was a lovely, sleepy, typical Austrian village. but it lacked the nightlife required by many of our party animal readership
Also the expensive skiing on the limited number of pistes on the mountain badly let it down.
