Bulgaria
Borovets
The Hotel Ela is a very quiet hotel and comfortable. Food is a bit different to what we are used to in the UK and is served warm, not hot. Along with the Greeks, the Bulgarians feel that hot food is not good for you. Most hotels have a microwave for the Brits to heat up the food if needed. We liked the food as it happens so did not find the need to use the microwave. The Hotel Ela serves local food (HURRAH!).
Plenty of bars and restaurants. B&B would be a good option if you stay in the centre of the resort as we found the food to be so cheap.
We are returning this year before Bulgaria joins the Euro and gets expensive.

We have just returned from our second visit to Borovets. We again, stayed at the 'Ela' hotel.
We found this year that the room we occupied had a problem in that sound from the other room next door, travelled around the ventilation system and we did not find it funny to listen to AC/DC and a party at 04:30. In saying that, the guests were as quiet as mice when they realised that there was a problem.
Basic (no kettle) but comfortable rooms and a clean, tidy well run hotel with daily room cleaning and change of towels. Room had TV with British news and Eurosport to watch skiing if you did not get enough on the slopes. Staff helpful and very polite.
